Building Smart India is high on Grundfos India’s agenda

Company is the Supporting Partner of 11th Edition of CII Sustainable Summit 2016

New Delhi, September 14, 2016: Grundfos believes in inviting everyone to take part in making the world better. The company strongly feels that only through a joint global effort can we ensure a sustainable planet and economy. Keeping the belief of its parent company in mind, Grundfos Pumps India Pvt. Ltd. (Grundfos India), is promoting the discussion on intelligent and energy efficient solutions to shape the future of a sustainable world. The company is a Supporting Partner of the 11th edition of Sustainability Summit 2016 organized by CII. The theme of the two-day summit is ‘Global Goals and Competitiveness’ and is scheduled on September 14 & 15, 2016 in New Delhi.

For Grundfos, sustainability is a key element of  its DNA. The company has a 'sustainable product solutions’ focus, where it invents and sells technologies and solutions that is helping the end-users reduce their energy and water consumption. Grundfos also realizes the importance of introducing new ways of re-using resources, as there is focus on the entire product life cycle including disposal and recycling.

One of the panel discussions at the summit focused on ‘Building Smart India’. In this context, smart cities need to not only be energy and water efficient but also have intelligent infrastructure to support them. These cities need to be designed to manage water and wastewater management and situations like flooding, leakage effectively. Currently, according to the WRG report, many cities have also found that if they simply reduce water pressure in the grid, they also reduce leakage and minimise wear and tear on aging pipes. To this end, ‘smart’ technologies such as Grundfos’ Demand Driven Distribution pressure control system developed can save both water and money by delivering optimal water pressure at any given time. This system can automatically monitor grid use patterns with remote sensors and adjust the water pressure accordingly using a Grundfos software algorithm. This reduces both water and electricity consumption by up to 20% and water pipes will last longer because they are less likely to crack

As a panellist on the session on ‘Building Smart India’ at the summit, Gaurav
Mathur, Head - Business Development (Building Services), Grundfos India said, “Companies with specialised knowledge and intelligent solutions have a key role to play in helping existing as well as upcoming smart cities overcome their energy and water supply challenges. The key will be to collaboration across the value chain to building resilient cities. We at Grundfos offer a comprehensive range of enhanced products and solutions that are ideal for Smart Cities. Be it buildings, water supply or waste water management, Grundfos provides holistic, intelligent pump solutions that will help improve the efficiencies of the water and energy applications in buildings and communities”.

Another key area where Grundfos focuses on is its own ‘environmental footprint’ where it constantly reviews the four elements: energy and carbon footprint, water footprint, waste footprint, and chemical footprint. Reducing energy consumption related to its activities and reducing its customers’ energy consumption is one of the most important aspects in the effort to realize the company’s ambition to never emit more CO2 than it did in 2008, despite the economic growth. Water is essential for basic survival, food production and business growth. Therefore, every single drop counts. Grundfos have committed to reduce its total water consumption by 50% of 2008 level by 2025.
